Terms and Conditions
1. Introduction
Stéphane Auberval is the sole proprietor of French Tutoring.
By engaging the services of French Tutoring for providing language tuition, the Client agrees to the following terms and conditions:
2. Glossary of Terminology:
The Tutor: Stéphane Auberval (representing the business: French Tutoring)
The Client: The person engaging the services of French Tutoring
Personal Tutoring: A lesson that will take place where The Tutor will physically meet with The Client in a face-to-face situation, somewhere in North West London, or the Borough of Ealing.
Online Tutoring: A lesson that will take place between The Tutor and The Client using Skype to allow a fully interactive lesson with no distance barriers.
French Tutoring's Priority Catchment Area (PCA): all postcodes within a 4-mile radius from Cowgate Road, Greenford (UB6).
3. Acceptable Travel Distances and cost
3.1 Clients within the Priority Catchment Area (PCA)
The Tutor will commute to The Client's by bike at no extra cost.
3.2 Clients outside the PCA:
If The Client is based outside French Tutoring's PCA, they are encouraged to consider Online Tutoring as their first option. Alternatively, The Tutor is happy to provide face-to-face tuition in person on the basis that the following 2 (TWO) conditions are met:-
3.2.a The Client must pay for a minimum £5 extra on top of the lesson fee. If French Tutoring needs to use public transport and the cost for a return ticket exceeds £5, then The Client agrees to pay for the travel expenses on a lesson-by-lesson basis — typical Pay As You Go Oyster fares apply.
3.2.b The Tutor must be able to make it in less than 1h (ONE HOUR) each way when using public transport, or less than 35min (THIRTY-FIVE MINUTES) door-to-door when cycling.
4. Appointment Lateness/Rescheduling/Cancellation
The Client may cancel or reschedule a lesson, without any additional costs, but must provide a minimum of 48 FULL HOURS' notice.
Cancellations within less than 48 HOURS prior to the lesson will result in a fee of half the lesson charge.
Cancellations on the day that the lesson was due will result in the full price of the lesson being charged.
If The Client fails to notify The Tutor that they are unable to attend the booked lesson, then the full price of the lesson will be charged.
Should The Client be running late for a lesson, they need to inform The Tutor as soon as possible, however, the lesson will only last for the remaining allotted time of the lesson, and will be charged at the appropriate tariff for the full lesson.
If for any reason The Tutor is running late for a lesson, he will inform The Client as soon as possible, and will teach the remaining time of the lesson. The portion of the lesson that has been missed, will be rescheduled for a time convenient to both The Client and The Tutor.
5. Pricing Policy
All prices are subject to change. In the event of a price change, existing customers will be given at least two weeks' (fourteen days') notice.
6. Payment & Notification of Payment
6.1 Personal Tutoring:
All payments must be received either in cash or by cheque at the end of each lesson, or in advance when purchasing our Special Packs.
Cheques will take up to 30 (THIRTY) calendar days before being banked in PLUS another 3 (THREE) working days before the amount is actually debited from The Client's bank account. The Client therefore needs to make sure his/her bank account has enough credit within that time frame.
6.2 Online Tutoring:
All payments should be made via PayPal (you can use the Lesson Shop to make payments) when the date/time for the lesson has been confirmed by the Tutor.
All payments for online tutoring must be received at least 2 HOURS prior to the commencement of the lesson.
Payment via PayPal should generate an email notification which shall be forwarded to French Tutoring IMMEDIATELY at the direct email address that you will be given. French Tutoring takes no liability for the possible delays that might occur for the email notification to be received.
French Tutoring reserve the right to cancel without notice, any online tuition lesson for which it has not received payment, or notification of payment.
7. Online Tutoring Technical Failures
French Tutoring takes no liability for any technical failure occurring during a lesson. Any lesson that has been started online shall reach completion in one or several stages until a total worth ONE HOUR is reached. The Client will not be refunded for a lesson that was started and interrupted for technical reasons. However, the Client will not lose the amount of time that was left. Should the connection be interrupted for more than 10 (TEN) minutes, then please refer to the FAQ for the appropriate way to proceed. Mutual agreement shall be made in order to resume the interrupted lesson by the correct amount of time.
8. Child Protection
Stéphane Auberval is CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) accredited and currently works in other registered educational positions in North West London.
9. Privacy Policy
French Tutoring does not sell, rent, or lease its customer data to any third parties.
French Tutoring will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on French Tutoring or the website; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of French Tutoring; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of French Tutoring, or the public.
